Emery Rubagenga is a Rwandan businessman, passionate about Africa’s development in all aspects and driven by a sincere desire and commitment to make a difference in Africa’s quest for self-sufficiency in this genereation. Before founding Ishango Consulting, he had been CEO of ROKA, one of the largest mining companies in Rwanda and has mentored several young Rwandans to become successful entrepreneurs through his work as the first vice president of the Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs of the Rwanda Private Sector Federation.
Mr. Rubagenga is also the founding member of the regional chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) – Africa Great Lakes and has in that regard spearheaded various international events promoting foreign investments in East Africa and has facilitated this region’s visibility within YPO membership in London, Hong Kong, Dubai, Paris, Toronto, Washington-DC and is currently serving on the International Board of Directors of YPO the premier global leadership organization of chief executives, the organization empowers 30,000 members in 143+ countries, employing 22 million people and generating USD 9 trillion.
Mr Rubagenga is the founder and CEO of Ishango Consulting Limited, an investment consulting firm that provides assistance to clients as they navigate East Africa’s business and regulatory framework. He has also received the highest Junior Chamber International (JCI) honor as the only JCI Senator (unique tribute paid to an individual for dedication and outstanding service on the national level).
Mr. Rubagenga serves on several boards in Rwanda’s private sector as well as international corporations ranging from Technology companies to energy and education. He has been the local representative of PUM – Netherlands (Netherland Management Cooperation Program), and organisation that aims to empower the private sector through connecting entrepreneurs in developing countries and emerging markets with senior experts from the Netherlands who devote their knowledge to mentoring and coaching. He is also the chairman of the Sager Ganza Microfinance organization and has been called upon to serve on advisory boards of Agahozo-Shallom Youth Village, Kigali Cement Company, ITM Africa, BBOXX Africa, Junior Achievement Africa and Bloc Fund the first impact fund in the world that uses blended finance, launched by Bamboo Capital Partners.
Rubagenga serves on the board of trustees of the Africa Wildlife Foundation, founded in 1961, the oldest international conservation organization focused solely on Africa.
Rubagenga obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the National University of Rwanda. He continues to pursue his passion of sharpening his corporate management expertise through dedicating significant amount of his time to executive
professional development and learning at the London Business School and the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands. Rubagenga lives in Kigali with his wife and their seventeen years old son.
