Dr. Dorothy Nyambi is the President and CEO of Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), with a +25-year career in the sector informed by her unique life experiences working on the ground in developing countries in long-term development and humanitarian aid, with a lifelong focus to ensure women and girls are not left behind. Prior to joining MEDA, she was Executive Vice President of the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS-NEI) and worked for organizations like the U.S. Peace Corps, World Health Organization and USAID.
Passionate about Gender Equality and inclusion, Dorothy chairs the International Development Research Centre in Ottawa; is a founding ,member of the Gender Summit Africa; life member of AWID; Member of the Board Room Africa; board director with CAMFED Canada and the Kigali Collaborative Research Centre, (KCRC), Carnegie Mellon University Africa. She is an advocate for blended finance initiatives and entrepreneurship to alleviate poverty and a champion of girls and women’s rights around the world.
