2022 APF CONFERENCE

To advance gender equality and women’s leadership on the continent, African Philanthropy Forum (APF), through its 2022 APF Conference themed “African Philanthropists Closing the Gender Gap” will gather stakeholders in the African philanthropy community to intensify partnerships for greater impact in the gender equity and empowerment space. This year’s conference will feature keynote speeches, plenaries, engaging sessions and networking opportunities with key drivers in the philanthropy community. The forum will seek to break down silos (across or within stakeholder groups or individual institutions) and create foundations for collective action that involves victims, businesses, civil society and states.

  • Deepen understanding about the meaning and impact of gender equality, including how it interacts with political, social and cultural dimensions
  • Highlight innovations (existent and emerging) in realizing gender equality, identifying conditions that enable effective mainstream solutions and lessons that can be applied in comparable contexts, and possibilities for scaling and replication
  • Explore creative avenues for generating resources to invest in opportunities that help advance opportunities for women and girls in Africa
  • Create a robust and productive space for mutual learning and appreciation of significant opportunities available and progress made towards gender equality in different facets through exchanges on specific topics showcasing how diverse mechanisms should and could interact with each other in a coherent manner, and leveraging the experiences of women in different societies
