Laila Hosni is the Executive Director of the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development. Since 2010, Laila grew through the ranks at ALEXBANK (a member of the Intesa Sanpaolo group), one of Egypt’s leading private sector banks, and in 2016; she Head the CSR sector and Sustainable Development at the bank. Laila contributed strongly to the development of Intesa Sanpaolo group’s international ESG strategy to become a leading impact bank.
Laila developed Alex bank’s multi-faceted approach to sustainable business, community investment, and value creation, establishing the ESG forum and transforming the bank’s approach to sustainable finance, converting nearly 20% of the bank’s total lending production into sustainable finance driven facilities. Furthermore, she developed the bank’s internal taxonomy with regards to ESG reporting and impact evaluation.
Laila established a diverse network of partnerships with various NGOs, MDBs, Government entities and private institutions to generate synergies in the community development space, multiplying Alex bank’s contributions ten-fold and augmenting the bank’s profile as a leader in the social and economic development space.
Laila is a member of the Federation of Egyptian Banks Sustainability Committee and serves as an advisor to many NGOs and corporations on enhancing their community investment programs.
Laila holds a bachelor’s degree in Humanities and Social Sciences from the American University in Cairo, specializing in Sociology and Psychology, and an Executive MSc in Social Business and Entrepreneurship from the London School of Economics (LSE).
