The African Philanthropy Forum (APF) was established in 2014 to build a learning community of strategic African philanthropists and social investors committed to inclusive and sustainable development throughout the Continent. Through its conference, programs and match-making services, the APF aimed to inform and enhance the development impact of the giving and investing of this network.

It was embedded within the Global Philanthropy Forum (GPF), a global network of strategic philanthropists and social investors committed to international causes.

Since February 2016, the APF has established a stronger presence on the Continent, through our regional meetings, partnerships with local organizations and investment in the development of the Toolkit for African Philanthropists. This engagement has propelled the organization’s belief that there is an urgent need to establish APF as an independent non-profit organization, operating on the African Continent. This organization will continue to be affiliated with the Global Philanthropy Forum and will specifically partner with the GPF on holding its annual convenings and its match-making services.
